NBA Rumors: John Wall absorbing interest from Heat, Clippers once he becomes free agent

If ever he becomes a free agent, former star point guard John Wall will possibly be pursued by the Los Angeles Clippers and the Miami Heat.

Per NBA insider Marc Stein, the Heat and the Clippers have shown interest to acquire the Houston Rockets point guard once he is listed as available on the free agency market.

The L.A. Clippers and the Miami Heat are among the teams known to have interest in Wall should he become a free agent, but Wall and the Rockets have conceded that buyout talks, to this point, are unrealistic with so much money left on Wall’s contract.

Wall hasn’t played yet this season for the Rockets. He initially agreed with general manager Rafael Stone to be shelved until the team finds a new destination for him to be traded. So far, no other ball clubs have expressed their willingness to acquire the veteran playmaker via transaction.

The former no. 1 overall pick has two years left in his contract, with the final year being a player option for the 2022-2023 season. It’s up to him if he will grab the hefty $47 million salary and possibly sit down again for the Rockets, or opt-out and seek the greener pasture by playing with another team for lower pay.

Throughout his ten-year career, the 31-year-old Wall is averaging 19.1 points, 9.1 assists, 4.3 boards, 1.7 steals, in 43 percent shooting. During his heyday and pre-injury times with the Washington Wizards in the last decade, he was a freakish floor general with insane athleticism and superb navigation of the ball.
