Joe Ingles is reportedly a trade subject for the Utah Jazz this season. The Australian swingman has to be considered “a name to watch” on the side of Jazz for a possible transaction, per ESPN’s NBA insider Zach Lowe.

“Ingles is a name to watch up to the trade deadline; in spitballing sessions, a lot of rival executives have wondered what the Jazz might be able to get in exchange for Ingles and a first-round pick. Ingles is on an expiring contract, and has lost maybe an eighth of a step.”

Ingles, with only a $14 million contract left, is seeing dipped numbers this season. He is averaging 8.0 points, 3.5 assists, 3.1 boards in 44 percent shooting per 24.8 minutes.

As Utah continues to grip its position at the upper echelon of the Western Conference, acquiring strong assets from the expiring contract of Ingles serves as a solid idea. Meanwhile, other teams might have to consider pulling the trigger to gain the service of the veteran who is known for his versatility, feisty attitude, and team-first approach.

After a productive stint overseas in NBL and the EuroLeague, the 34-year-old Ingles was sought by Utah at the start of the 2014-2015 season. In 2017, the franchise offered him his first full contract worth $52 million in the span of four years, honoring his toughness, competitive spirit, and timely contributions when it mattered the most.

Utah is in the tight grasp of the third seed in the West with a 22-9 record.
