Derek Fisher reacts to Austin Reaves’ game-winner vs. Mavericks

The Los Angeles Lakers received a major boost off the bench in the game against the Dallas Mavericks as Austin Reaves scored 15 points in 32 minutes of play, making 5/6 three-pointers, including a game-winner.

According to Lakers legend Derek Fisher, Russell Westbrook made the right play by passing the ball out to Reaves, who created a great moment by making the shot.

“It’s an amazing moment,” Fisher said on Spectrum SportsNet. “I think for any guy in the NBA that at some point you grew up watching other guys have these moments. So for you to then be one of those guys that fans and fans and kids and people all over the world watch hit a winning shot in the NBA there’s no greater feeling for a player.

“Most of the time those things happen especially for guys like Austin kind of by accident, it’s not the plan. Usually it takes the trust or the right play being made by a superstar. In this case Russell Westbrook instead of forcing a shot himself he passed the ball to Austin Reaves.

“We’re always quick to jump on guys when they make plays at the end of the game where it looks like they try to do too much or they’re selfish he should have passed. We also criticise guys when they act like they’re scared to shoot and he should have shot instead of passing it. That was the right play to make and then trust your teammate from there. Austin Reaves happy for him, great moment.”
