Luka Doncic has been ruled out for the Mavs’ Wednesday contest against the Los Angeles Lakers. Dončić, who has been fighting a left ankle soreness, will miss his third consecutive game, the team announced.

It will take the spice away from the anticipated matchup between the Mavericks’ superstar point guard and the Lakers’ superstar.

Dončić originally injured his left knee and ankle against Denver on Nov. 15. He missed four games afterwards, with Dallas going 0-4 to those games.

However, they have won their last two games without him in the lineup. The Mavericks will also be without Willie Cauley-Stein.

With the last two wins over the Thunder and Hornets, they have improved to 14-13, which is ranked as the second-best in Southwest Division and as the 7th best in the West.
