As the Denver Nuggets continue to roll as undermanned, the return of Jamal Murray remains the much-anticipated happening in the Mile High bastion.
With that being said, the explosive guard may finally see a return into next year coming from a long hiatus and recovery — sparking optimism to their die-hard supporters.
In the latest episode of The Ringer’s “The Mismatch”, insider Chris Vernon gave an update coming from his source within the Nuggets camp that Murray may indeed suit up his jersey early next year.
“I ran into somebody last night that would know, and they told me February for Jamal (murray).”
Murray tore his ACL last season, which ultimately blew Denver’s chances for title contention in the 2021 postseason. As he continues to recover and miss plenty of games this 2021-2022 campaign, his presence, toughness, and scoring prowess are being truly missed especially in this time wherein reigning MVP Nikola Jokic and versatile forward Aaron Gordon are carrying the heavy loads.
If the 24-year-old hooper manages to come back earlier, the Nuggets may finally return from contention. In spite of missing the service of Michael Porter Jr., who has been ruled out indefinitely after a third gruesome back surgery, the talented squad can still go toe-to-toe with fellow Western Conference powerhouses with that deep lineup and coaching wits of Michael Malone.
Before going down, Murray was averaging career-high in points (21.2) and three-point shooting percentage (40%) to go along with 4.8 assists and 4.0 boards as the second option behind Jokic. The Nuggets are maneuvering themselves in tight control of playoff bidding this early part of the season, having a 13-13 record as the eight-seeded team in the West.
