Rumors: Rockets interested in looking at Christian Wood offers

The Houston Rockets are rumored willing to hear trade offers for their current main man, Christian Wood.

As he joins Zach Lowe’s The Lowe Post podcast, Tim McMahon of ESPN said even though Wood is only about to hit the prime of his career, there is still a possibility that the Rockets are looking on the table and ship the rising big man for the best deal possible.

The sense that I get is by no means are the Rockets looking to move him. Certainly there’s potential for him to be in his prime when the young guys grow up, and maybe the Rockets are ready to be competitive again. But they’re willing to listen and I think that you know, aside from Jalen Green, the Rockets should be willing to listen to every single guy on the roster.

Wood is an ideal prototype center that can shoot, rebound, anchor the paint and handle the ball well. Currently, at 26 years of age, he climbed his way up as an undrafted cager out of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2015.

Last month, Wood was reportedly expected to absorb ‘significant’ interest from certain teams around the league, citing that Houston might consider listening to possible swapping as he may not return again after the end of the contract in 2023.

Wood is the engine that drives the Rockets’ streaking run so far this season, winning their last seven games after a lowly start and now holding an 8-16 record. He is averaging 16.3 points, 11.3 boards, 2.3 assists in almost 32 minutes of exposure.
