Klay Thompson finally participated in 5-on-5 practice – Warriors HC Steve Kerr

Indeed some uplifting news for all the Golden State Warriors fans — Klay Thompson has taken a big step towards his much-awaited return.

Detailed by TNT’s Allie LaForce during the Dubs’ 117-99 demolition against the Brooklyn Nets, the star shooting guard finally participated in 5-on-5 scrimmage on Monday.

“We got a big update from Steve Kerr right before the game that Klay Thompson, for the first time yesterday, was able to play 5-on-5,” LaForce said. “That’s the next step in his progression after two years of not playing basketball. … It’s going to take a lot of 5-on-5 to get him back in basketball conditioning and basketball shape.”

Way back on Nov. 5 during the Warriors’ game against the visiting New Orleans Pelicans, Thompson told Ryan Rucco-led ESPN broadcast crew that he feels very well from 3-on-3 scrimmages and excited to return back to court.

The Warriors haven’t provided any timetable yet for Thompson’s return, but ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the phenom marksman could return back to court before Christmas day.

Thompson missed the last two campaigns with Golden State, suffering from a torn ACL during the 2019 NBA Finals Game 6 and a horrendous torn Achilles prior to the 2020-2021 season.
