Klay Thompson gearing up in 3×3 games, looks forward to do more in his career after long pause

Klay Thompson is slowly making great progress in his return towards competitive basketball.

Joining the ESPN broadcast crew at the middle of New Orleans Pelicans-Golden State Warriors clash, the sharpshooting sensation gave a relieving update regarding his status and preparations to finally play.

“I’m feeling great,” Thompson said. “Just working every day like I have been the last two years, and I’m playing 3-on-3, and just getting back into the tip-top game shape.”

Thompson added that he missed hooping for such a long time, and the layoff that he endured made him appreciate “the work it takes to be great.”

“I really miss the winning,” Thompson told the Ryan Ruocco-led broadcast team. “I miss playing in front of the fans and then just playing basketball. I really love what I do, I always have since I was a kid. I think these last two years have given me a great sense of appreciation for the work it takes to be great.

“And my story is still being written, so I’m not satisfied with where my career is at. I still have many more chapters to write.”

The star shooting guard was kept off the court for two consecutive seasons — as he first injured his ACL upon an awkward landing during Game 5 of the 2019 NBA Finals, then followed by a gruesome torn Achilles prior to the start of 2020-2021 season.

The Dubs organization has no plans yet to let the three-time champion to suit up in team practices, but the 3-on-3 scrimmages are solid preparations for its return.

Thompson’s latest shootaround was released by the Warriors before their 114-92 demolition game against the Charlotte Hornets earlier this week.

Still, there’s no timetable being released yet on his comeback in the hardwood.
