Tonight, Kevin Durant and James Harden have returned to Oklahoma City as teammates for the first time since 2012 — when they were seen as future greats of the game.
But now, The Beard seems not to care about that given context rooted from the past. As he now plays on the side of the Brooklyn Nets with KD, the cold reception they received was even a thing of nothing on his part.
Asked post-game, Harden said that he doesn’t know why the home fans booed them.
“I don’t know. It wasn’t my fault. [laughs]. So I don’t know, I don’t really care, honestly.”
Durant and Harden, to go along with the current Los Angeles Lakers star Russell Westbrook, were viewed as foundational pieces of the Oklahoma City Thunder in the early parts of the last decade. With their overflowing talent, they even made it up to the 2012 NBA Finals, wherein they came up short against league MVP LeBron James and the Miami Heat in five exciting games. In the following offseason, the Thunder dealt their Sixth Man of the Year Harden to the Houston Rockets — and the rest is now listed in the history books.
Eventually, Brooklyn demolished OKC via 120-97 road dub, as the two superstars combined for 49 points, 14 boards and 17 dimes in front of a raucous crowd that supported them when they were still upcoming in the league.
They will face the talented Thunder once again on January 13 next year inside the Barclays Center.
