EuroLeague Round 7 (Day 2): Monaco stuns CSKA Moscow; Elie Okobo sets new EuroLeague career high

EuroLeague Round 7 came to an end on Friday, with Monaco crushing CSKA Moscow and Elie Okobo setting a new career high in the competition.

Monaco made a wild comeback and stunned CSKA Moscow at home (97-80). The hosts trailed by 22 in the first half (13-35), but turned things around in the second half. Dominating their opponents on both ends, they outscored them 58-28 and cruised to the victory (97-80).

Monaco has now won two straight, improving to 4-3. Meanwhile, CSKA dropped to 4-3 as well and now is on a two-game losing streak.

In Athens, Elie Okobo was unstoppable and led ASVEL Villeurbanne past Panathinaikos (70-84). The young guard set new career highs in the EuroLeague in points (35) and PIR (37).

ASVEL was in control for the majority of the night and endured the multiple comeback attempts of the “Greens” to seal the deal. The French are one win away from the top, at 5-2. On the contrary, Panathinaikos remained closed to the bottom of the standings, at 2-5.

UNICS Kazan secured its biggest EuroLeague win this season, after rallying past Real Madrid at home (65-58). In a hard-fought battle, the hosts closed the game on a 10-0 run to clinch the victory.

The Russians improved to 3-4, whereas Real Madrid missed the chance to reach the top of the table (5-2).

Anadolu Efes and Zenit Saint Petersburg earned comfortable home wins and closed Round 7 in the bets way possible. The Turks (2-5) decimated Zalgiris Kaunas (94-60), with the Lithuanians remaining the only winless EuroLeague club (0-7).

For their part, Zenit used a 24-0 run in the second quarter and a 16-0 run in the third one in order to crush Baskonia (83-54). The Russians climbed to 4-3, whereas the Basques now have a 3-4 record.
