Russell Westbrook will want to forget his debut with the Los Angeles Lakers. Not only did his team lose the game, but the 32-year-old superstar struggled individually as he scored just 8 points in 35 minutes of play. Russ made just 4 out of 13 two-pointers and missed all of his four three-point shots.

This is of no concern for LeBron James, who is confident that Westbrook will get back to his usual self as the season progresses. The Lakers Big Three joked after the game and kept the mood positive. “I told Russ to go home and watch a comedy,” James said postgame. Somebody could put a smile on his face. He was so hard on himself.

“I told him ‘Don’t be so hard on yourself, it’s one game.’ I understand.. we all competitors and we all feel like sh*t when we don’t play well or play through our ability. So I completely understand that as well. But I just don’w want him to be so hard on himself. That was the one thing that hopefully get to him.

“Like I said, you go home, he’s going to see three babies that he has. They might be asleep but they will put a smile on his face. You got a beautiful wife, family. So at the end of the day you go home and you really like ‘Okay, all right that was not that bad. It’s really not that bad.’

“But we do look forward to getting back in the film, getting back on the floor on Thursday. See ways we can get better as a team, as individuals. And then getting back on the floor on Friday versus another tough test, another tough team in Phoenix Suns.”
