The first regular season game with the Los Angeles Lakers did not go well for Russell Westbrook. The 32-year-old superstar played 31 minutes while scoring 8 points, grabbing 5 rebounds and dishing 4 assists. He made just 4 out of 13 2-point shots and missed all of his 4 three-pointers.

According to LeBron James, the reason why Russ struggled in this game was because it was his first official game as a Laker. “I just think it was just the first game jitters to be honest,” the four-time NBA champion said. “Don’t put too much into it.

“Probably was a lot just going through his mind, just being a kid from LA watching the Lakers growing up and then however many years down the road now you’re putting on a Laker uniform and you’re stepping into Staples Center.

“You probably can only imagine how many friends and family have contacted him over the last 48 hours, wondering if they could come and see his first game as a Laker. Those things, those demands and those asks and those things will quiet down as the season go on and on. Not worried about Russ at all. He just need to be himself and not worry about the outcome.”
