Luka Doncic says Kristaps Porzingis is in ‘a better place mentally’ this season

Dallas Mavericks are preparing for the new season under new head coach Jason Kidd, who will make his debut vs. Atlanta Thursday.

Luka Doncic spoke to the media for the first time since Sept. 27 on Tuesday, addressing his relationship with Kristaps Porzingis and the mind set of the Latvian big heading to the new season.

“He’s in a way better place now, I think, especially mentally. I think you can see on the court. Everybody can see that he’s playing way better,” Doncic claimed.

The Mavericks finished the preseason with a 4-0 record, and the best defensive efficiency rating in the league. Doncic said that he is looking forward to starting the season.

“It’s great,” Doncic said after the Mavericks’ 4-0 preseason. “I think we showed that on the court. I think we’re playing great, sharing the ball. Especially on the defensive end, we’ve been way better, and I think that’s the key for us.”
