Steve Nash believes the Nets still have a ‘long way to go’

Steve Nash shared his thoughts on his expectations for the Brooklyn Nets, just three days before the start of the season.

Nash, an NBA legend and Brooklyn head coach, believes the Nets will need time to build their chemistry on the court.

“There’s expectations and pressure and honestly, we got a long way to go. I feel like we’ve been on the court [together], practices and games, probably like 15 times. So this is the type of thing that’s going to take a long time for us to be a finished product.

But can we get out to a decent start? Can we play at a decent level to start? Can we manage some of the shortcomings of a short camp early and a lot of new players? Guys still trying to get into conditioning? That would be great,” Nash told reporters after Saturday’s practice, via the New York Post.

Brooklyn will not have Kyrie Irving available for a long time. The superstar guard has no intention to get vaccinated and is out of the team indefinitely. However, Steve Nash has a deep roster that can cover the absence of Irving.

The Nets will play the defending champions Milwaukee Bucks in the season opener on Tuesday.
