San Antonio Spurs waive Croatian forward Luka Samanic

In a somewhat surprising move, the San Antonio Spurs announced Monday that they waived Croatian promising forward Luka Samanic.

He was the 19th overall pick of the 2019 NBA Draft. Samanic played two seasons in San Antonio, averaging 3.8 points, 2.2 rebounds in 9.9 minutes in 36 games.

Samanic spent most of his time playing for Austin Spurs in the G League. Samanic was set to make $2.9 million this season, per Sportrac.

The dismissal of Samanic leaves the Spurs training camp roster at 17 players, per the team’s announcement.
