Warriors’ Jonathan Kuminga out for at least a week

Golden State Warriors announced rookie Jonathan Kuminga will be out for at least a week, after suffering a right knee injury, the team announced Thursday.

Kuminga left early in the fourth quarter of the Warriors’ preseason game against the Denver Nuggets. The Warriors drafted Kuminga with the seventh overall pick in this year’s draft.

In the Warriors’ two preseason games, Kuminga has recorded eight points, four rebounds, and one assist in just over 17 minutes of action.

The promising forward is a significant part of the franchise’s future, even though he may see limited time in his rookie season, as the Warriors are hoping to return to the playoffs.

Kuminga foregone college basketball to play with the NBA’s G-League Ignite. In 13 games with the Ignite, he averaged 15.8 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 1.0 steals per game in his lone season with the team.
