The latest episode of 1-ON-1 with Basketball Network featured Walt aka. ‘The Wizard’ Williams. Selected as the 7th pick in the 1992 NBA Draft by the Sacramento Kings, Walt ended up having a very solid 11-year NBA career, averaging well over double digits while playing with some of the best players in the game.

One of the topics touched during the interview was Williams’ former teammate on the Toronto Raptors — Tracy McGrady — who was famous at the time for his athletic ability. According to Williams, he told T-Mac to work on his shot which he did and became a star in the NBA.

“I told him, I said, ‘Listen, in order for you to be a dominant player, you know handling and athleticism thats great, but these guys are physical. You have to be able to shoot the ball either off the dribble or spot up. You have to be able to do that on a consistent basis.

“That summer he got traded to Orlando. In the one summer, when he started the season with Orlando, this dude had a consistent jumper off the dribble and spot up. He developed that and was consistent with that in one summer. That just speaks to his work ethic.”
