Golden State Warriors star point guard Steph Curry is pretty excited at the prospect of having partner in crime Klay Thompson back next season. Thompson has spent the last two seasons sidelined with injury and is still working his way back to playing, something which would be welcomed by the team following a pair of regrettable campaigns.

Speaking in a recent interview on the Brother From Another podcast, Curry claimed his Splash Brother is in good spirits and ready to return to action.

“I’ve been watching his journey over the last two years,” the 33-year-old said. “Like last November, when we heard he tore his Achilles it was a gut punch because you know how hard he worked to get back from the ACL. It was going to be another year to get back and, like I said, he’s been bright and he’s in good spirits. He’s ready to get back on the floor.

“There’s so many memories of what he is capable of doing and what he’s accomplished. We just want him to be healthy. He wanted to be out there no matter how long it takes him for him to get back to 100. And him on the floor at whatever percentage is good enough for us.”

Steph and Klay became one of the most effective backcourt partnerships in NBA history during a run that saw the Warriors reach five straight finals and win three titles in the process. The team has struggled in Klay’s absence, failing to make the playoffs in each of the past two seasons, and will hope to contend with the new-look Los Angeles Lakers and their other Western Conference rivals when they have Thompson back.
