Rajon Rondo becomes a free agent, per report

Rajon Rondo reportedly agreed to a contract buyout with the Memphis Grizzlies, Shams Charania of the Athletic and Stadium reports.

The veteran guard was expected to become a free agent before the start of the Grizzlies’ training camp. He was traded to Memphis in a deal that sent Eric Bledsoe to the Los Angeles Clippers.

Rondo spent the last season with the Atlanta Hawks and the Los Angeles Clippers, after winning the second title of his career with the Lakers in 2020.

According to the latest reports, the Lakers are favored to sign him, now that he became an unrestricted free agent. Rondo was owed around $8 million in the 2021-22 NBA season.
