Lakers’ Montrezl Harrell “50-50” on exercising player option

Los Angeles Lakers big man Montrezl Harrell’s decision on his $9.7 million player option is considered “50-50”, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.

If Harrell exercises his player option to return to the Lakers, he could be a trade piece, as they are looking to upgrade their roster with another star caliber player.

The Lakers and Sacramento Kings have had trade discussions focused around Kyle Kuzma and Buddy Hield.

Harrell and the Lakers’ No. 22 pick in the upcoming draft were also discussed in trade talks with the Kings, notes Scotto.

The 27-year-old could be a potential replacement for the Kings, as big man Richaun Holmes will be a free agent.

Harrell played limited minutes in the Lakers’ first-round playoff series loss to the Phoenix Suns and even picked up a DNP-CD (did not play – coach’s decision) in Game 2 and Game 3.

He averaged 5.8 points and 2.5 rebounds per game in 9.8 minutes per game in the series.
