Gregg Popovich shared his thoughts after Team USA loss to France in the opening day of the Olympic tournament. Popovich claimed he was disappointed, but not surprised, after another humbling defeat vs. France.
Pop admitted he was disappointed for the loss, but calling this result a surprise is almost disrespectful for France. France made a 16-2 run in the last quarter coming back twice to complete a triumphant finish in the game.
After losing to Nigeria and Australia in preparation games, Team USA hoped to start this competition with a win against a dangerous rival.
However, France stood tall and secured the victory to defeat USA for the second time in the last two years. USA experienced its first loss in an Olympic tournament since the 2004.
