CSKA Moscow head coach Dimitris Itoudis addressed the loss of his team to Anadolu Efes in the semi-final of the 2021 EuroLeague Final Four.

Coach Itoudis said he is proud of his players for reaching the Final Four, but the goal was to make it to the Championship Game and defend their title.

“I am proud and I told them before the game all four teams that made the Final Four should be proud for making the Final Four. It’s a big thing.

It’s not something to be taken for granted, especially considering these unprecedented times we’re going through with the pandemic and the injuries we had.

We were proud, but we didn’t come here just to have this feeling and play for no reason. We came here for a reason. And every team that comes here comes to reach the championship game. That’s the goal. Whoever says differently is lying,” Itoudis told reporters afterwards.

CSKA will now compete in the third-place game on Sunday.
