The Los Angeles Lakers launched their playoff campaign with a loss to the Phoenix Suns (90-99). None of the Lakers players reached 20 points in scoring with LeBron James having a team-high 18 points.

After the gam, Lakers legend James Worthy made a comment saying he did not see a sense of urgency from the defending NBA champions in this game. Head coach Frank Vogel was asked if he agrees with such assessment.

“I don’t know if I agree with that,” he said. “I thought our guys played with great intensity. I think we got taken out of a lot of things that we want to do offensively with Phoenix having a week to prepare for us. Credit them for doing a great job with that.

“We just got to execute a little bit better on the offensive side of the ball. We got to rebound a little bit better defensively. And we got to make shots. We missed 9 layups, 11 free-throws and didn’t have a great night at a three-point line. Those things will come back around. We gotta look at the tape and figure out ways we can better for game two.”
