Minnesota Timberwolves’ Anthony Edwards and Toronto Raptors’ Malachi Flynn have been named Western and Eastern Conference Rookies of the Month, respectively, for April.
The award was for games from April 1 to April 30.
This is the second time that Edwards has won the award this season, as he won in March, while this is Flynn’s first time winning the award.
Edwards averaged 21.6 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.6 steals per game in 34.4 minutes per game last month.
The 19-year-old becomes the third Timberwolves player to win the award multiple times, joining Karl-Anthony Towns (November, December 2015, January, February, March, April 2016) and Andrew Wiggins (November, December 2014, January, February, April 2015).
Edwards ranks in the top 10 among rookies in multiple statistical categories this season, including first among rookies in points per game (18.5), tied for fourth in steals (1.2) and eighth in assists per game (2.8).
He also leads rookies in total points (1205), ranks second in total three-pointers made (147), third in total steals (76), third in total rebounds (301) and fifth in total assists (179).
Flynn averaged 12.7 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game in 28.3 minutes per game last month.
The 22-year-old becomes the ninth player in franchise history to earn the honor and the first since Jonas Valanciunas in March 2013.
During the month, Flynn scored a career-high 22 points on April 13 against the Atlanta Hawks and also recorded his first career double-double with 20 points and 11 assists on April 10 against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
