The Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James returned to action against the Sacramento Kings after being out for 40 days with an ankle injury.

The four-time NBA champion played 32 minutes during which he scored 16 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and dished 7 assists. However, his team ended up losing the game 106-110.

It was the first time that James played alongside Anthony Davis and Andre Drummond. After the game, the Lakers head coach Frank Vogel was asked about these three players playing together.

“I’m very encouraged with what that looked like,” Vogel said postgame. “There was a lot of good sequences with three of those guys. Rhythm and timing way off.

“Them getting used to each other is going to take time. It’s going to be an adjustment period. I’m very disappointed in the loss but encouraged by what those three are going to look together.”

By losing this game, the reigning NBA champions have further complicated their chances of climbing up the standings. They remained in the fifth place in the Western Conference but are now 6 wins behind the Nuggets and just a single win above the Mavericks.
