Kawhi Leonard expected to re-sign with Clippers

Projected top free agent this offseason Kawhi Leonard is “widely” expected to re-sign with the Los Angeles Clippers.

Per Sam Amick and John Hollinger of The Athletic:

Yet barring a dramatic turn of events in these coming months, it’s looking like this Leonard free agency will be decidedly less dramatic. While this league has certainly taught us to expect the unexpected, the truth is that Leonard is still widely, well, expected to re-sign with the Clippers. As it stands, that’s the word from Clippers sources and rival executives alike.

It’s possible that could change however, if the Clippers make an early exit in the postseason, but for now, he seems likely to stay put.

The Clippers already locked up their other star Paul George with a four-year, $90 million contract extension in December.

Leonard, 29, is averaging 25.8 points, 6.7 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.8 steals per game, while shooting 51.5 percent from the field and 39.0 percent from three-point.
