Blake Griffin has been released from his contract with the Detroit Pistons earlier with several teams being interested in signing him.
According to Shams Charania, the veteran star returned $13.3M to the Pistons to be released from the team. Griffin has been placed on waivers.
He’s expected to clear waivers on Sunday. With that move, Detroit cleared a potential $38.96M option from their cap for next season.
Out of that $13.3M return, $4.3M will be applied to the Pistons’ cap this season and $8.7M will be applied to next season’s cap, per Vince Goodwill of Yahoo Sports.
