Recently, rumors appeared that the Dallas Mavericks were checking the market value of Kristaps Porzingis ahead of the trade deadline later in March. The team owner Mark Cuban later denied such reports, but the rumor ignited a discussion about the Mavs’ future.

According to NBA analyst Ric Bucher, Dallas should take the opportunity, if it is available, to move Porzingis. He does not see the duo of Luka Doncic and Porzingis turning the team into title contenders.

“If they can move Porzingis, I say you do it. I do not want to grow old with Kristaps Porzingis’ contract,” Bucher said on UNDISPUTED.

This season, the 25-year-old Latvian center is averaging 20.5 points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. He is currently on a five-year, $158,253,000 contract with the Mavericks which runs through the 2023-2024 season, which is a player option.
