The Los Angeles Lakers played three straight overtime games and won all three of them. The team’s head coach Frank Vogel thinks there are positive effects of playing close games. Moreover, he says it is better to have the opponents coming with their best shot rather than have an easy game.

“There is huge benefits. You want this,” Vogel said. “LeBron and I were just talking about this before practice, like, you embrace these challenges. We talked about it throughout the game. I wanted to credit our guys for really not panicking last night. We got down I think it was 20 in the first half. OKC was playing terrific basketball.

“You want to be in a position where you’re being pushed. Because if they come out and they play poorly and we’re up 15-20 points, there’s more of an inclination to not be as disciplined with your habits and what you have to do to execute.

The close games are good learning lessons each game with where we wanna run, our defensive coverages and all those types of things I think ultimately at the end of the day sharpen us. We embrace the challenge of facing everybody’s best shot each night.”
