Spurs-Pelicans postponed due to contact tracing protocols

The Spurs-Pelicans Monday matchup has been postponed due to contact tracing protocols. This will be the 22nd game postponement this season amid COVID-19 pandemic.

The news first broke out via NBA Insider Shams Charania and was later confirmed by the league. Earlier in the week, the league announced that it had decided to push back the tip-off time of this matchup.

The Pelicans are on a bad stint losing eight of their last 10 games. The Spurs came off a win Saturday against the Washington Wizards, who played their first game in weeks, after six of their previous games postponed due to health and safety protocols.

It’s still unclear if Monday’s game postponement is related to Spurs’ Saturday matchup. New Orleans came into Monday’s postponed matchup following three straight defeats.

It’s still unknown when the game between the two teams will be rescheduled.
