The Chicago Bulls rookie Patrick Williams was given a big task of guarding the Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James in his 10th game in the NBA. The former Florida State Seminole played 34 minutes — same as James — and received a wealth of experience.

LeBron dropped 28 points as defending NBA champions secured a narrow win, 117-115. For Williams, who had 8 points, it was an opportunity to get better as he later said after the game.

“I can’t really say much except I got better. I got better tonight as a defender, as a player. Just being around him, watching him, guarding him, I got better,” Williams said of defending James per Rob Schaffer of NBC Sports. “In the 10th game of the season, that’s all you can ask for. I took on the challenge.”

Game Recap: Lakers 117, Bulls 115

This season, Williams is averaging 9.6 points, 3.6 rebounds in 25.5 minutes per game. Chicago is currently in 12th place in the Eastern Conference with four wins and six losses.
