Kyle Kuzma landed himself a new deal with the Los Angeles Lakers, having agreed to a three-year, $40 million contract with the reigning NBA champions over the weekend. However, according to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, the player had hoped for more money.
“Kyle’s asking price was higher, he came down and locked himself in,” Windhorst revealed via The Hoop Collective podcast on Monday.
The contract includes a player option for the 2023-24 season. Per Adrian Wojnarowski, this is the first time a rookie has received such an option on a non-max deal and it could see him get a bigger bag in the next two years if he plays at a very high level.
