Kyrie Irving takes back comments he made on Nets coaching situation, praises Steve Nash

Uncle Drew admits he got that one wrong.

Kyrie Irving appears to have taken Damian Lillard’s advice. The Brooklyn Nets point guard spoke to the media on Monday for the first time this preseason, having received a fine of $25,000 for refusing to talk to reporters last week and, per ESPN, walked back on the comments he made about the Nets not really having a head coach despite hiring Steve Nash.

“Steve’s been amazing,” the former Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics star was quoted as saying. “He kind of commands the respect. I think I’ve got to take back my comments in terms of the head coach back a few months ago. But it’s just like, man, we have such a great synergy. Everyone feels like we’re coaching one another to be better, so I’m grateful for that.”

Nash previously claimed the comments did not bother him.
