The Milwaukee Bucks could reportedly take on Harrison Barnes’ contract if they could land a deal for Sacramento’s Bogdan Bogdanovic.

Bogdanovic – a reported target for the Bucks – is a restricted free agent and a sign-and-trade is likely the only way he moves. According to ESPN’s Zach Lowe, the Bucks have floated scenarios around, the likes of which involve them also acquiring Harrison Barnes, although it isn’t clear as to whether they’ve actually been in contact with the Kings.

According to Lowe:

“In any case, the Bucks will be active. They love Bogdan Bogdanovic, a restricted free agent with the Sacramento Kings who would require a sign-and-trade; the Bucks have kicked around scenarios in which they also absorb Harrison Barnes, sources have told ESPN. It is unclear if they have engaged the Kings in real discussions; it’s early. (Acquiring any player in a sign-and-trade would trigger the hard cap.)”

Barnes is due over $60 million over the next three years and doesn’t exactly represent a sound acquisition at that salary, when there’s also the matter of locking Bogdanovic down. However, he could also come in to fill in the spot left void by the recently retired Marvin Williams as a big next to Giannis Antetokounmpo when Milwaukee plays small.
