Question about Partizan salary cap
#1
I have heard numerous times that Partizan wont be able to resign Bo or Roberts because of financial problems. I wanted to ask how much are they making as of now and what is the ball park figure amount they are looking for as of now?

I know some of the Top Free Agents like Bo McCalebb is getting 2 & 3 year deals for 2-4million Euros, etc....is that what McCalebb looking for and if so why cant Partizan pay it?

P.S. if anyone can find out how much McCalebb contract for this past season was please let me know. Thanks

Partizan's overall budget is around 3 million euros. Half of that is for players and staff wages.

I'd say McCalebb and Roberts earned around 150-200k euros. So Partizan can not match the offers those two are getting right now.
Respect and thanks for everything:

Alvertis, Bodiroga, Jasikevicius, Radja, Wilkins, Vrankovic, Fotsis, Rebraca, Kattash, Gentile, Koch, Middleton, Kutluay, Rogers, Papadopoulos, Becirovic, Tomasevic, Siskauskas, Pekovic, Lakovic, Vujanic, Chatzivrettas, Maljkovic, Spanoulis and many more to follow in the near future.

Last year Bo McCalebb earned €175,000 euros NET INCOME in Partizan.

Lawrence Roberts last year earned €275,000 euros NET INCOME in Partizan.

If you figure the current exchange rates, the taxes and the agent fees (which in the NBA the players lose out of their money) then....

last year McCalebb earned what would be like a $277,516 salary in the NBA.

Roberts earned last year then what would be like a $436,096 salary in the NBA.

As far as what McCalebb is asking for, supposedly he is asking for a salary of €1 million euros per season. Based on what he has done in Europe, one very good year, but just that, I would say it's pretty unlikely he can command such a salary. I doubt he gets that much, but you never know. If I had to guess I would think he would get more like €700,000 euros a year.

As far as Roberts goes I have no idea what he is asking for. But I would think he could get more than he made last year. I would guess something like €350,000-€500,000 euros or something like that is what he could ask for.

The reason Partizan cannot give out such salaries is because their budget does not allow for it. I believe their total budget last season was about €3.2 million euros. Typically when clubs have budgets around that level they don't give out contracts that pay anything over around €300,000 euros per season. That's about the top salary you will see for players in clubs in that budget range.

Partizan had the second smallest budget of any Euroleague club last year. So it's definitely not the club to sign with for a player if he is looking for a big payday. As far as I know, Barcelona is interested in signing McCalebb, and that is a club that could afford his asking price also.

They would like to move Jaka Lakovic out and have McCalebb replace him. Lakovic's salary also just happens to be €1 million euros per season, so it would be the same cost to Barca to replace him with McCalebb at his asking price. So that might be a possibility for him.

First of all, I'm very happy to see that Partizan has its supporters in the States Smile

Secondly, you got your answer from those guys, and the only thing I can add for that matter is some more informations -

- Roberts had highest sallary last year of about 250.000 euros, as I heard he is not looking for such a big raise, once stating that he would gladly play next year for same money. Since there are not any roumors linking him with any other clubs, supporters are pretty optimistic that Partizan and him can come to an agreement keeping him at the club for the next season.
- Bo had an excellent year and he already is among top-wanted players on the market. Supporters have already said goodbye to Bo since we know that our club is unable to pay sallary that he can easily get in any other top European clubs.
- The highest one-year paycheck in Partizan, in previous seassons, was not higher than 275.000-300.000 euros and there has not been many players with that kind of contract. And things about that is unlikely to change, reasons for that are more deeper than simple "basketball club budget" thing, it is more about very bad situation in Serbia's sport, economics, generally very hard situation in our socciety.
