How do you feel about Zalgiris's financial troubles Vilius? Will they affect the team, especially with Marcus Brown headed to Maccabi?
#3
Financial problems clearly affected the players. Zalgiris lost 3 games in a row in Baltic Basketball League against Latvian clubs. With all due respect to the Latvian teams, Zalgiris should win those games. Maybe not as easy as few years ago. Players didn't want to travel to the games when they weren't paid.

Head coach was fired and Marcus Brown left. Those kind of changes either bring the team together or make things even worse. In my opinion the chances for the second case are bigger because the new coach is not a man from outside. He worked with the team and shouldn't bring anything new.

If poor results continue, players might lose trust in the coaches.

Also former head coach Rimantas Grigas said that Marcus Brown arrived to the team completely unprepared physically for the new season.

So Marcus Brown is out of shape eh? I hope he bombs for Maccabi haha...Olympiacos need to beat them by 50 and teach them a lesson. All I want is one year without Maccabi in the Top 16. One year.

I hope Zalgiris recover, I really do. They're always fun to watch. How long do you think it will take for them to contend at a good level again?
#5
It's hard to tell. It might happen that the team will get back to normal condition soon. There is also a more likely option that the whole season will be average at best. They will still be favourite in the domestic leagues while season in Euroleague might not go as planned.

Zalgiris won last game against Siauliai by 37 points. They should win again too but the gap should be much smaller. Maybe a win by 15 or less.

No chances for Aisciai against Rytas. Big win for Rytas and probably +30.

After tonight's Zalgiris' win over Rytas the 1st spot is pretty much locked with Zalgiris. Now Zalgiris can relax until the LKL finals and concentrate a bit on Baltic League.

Zalgiris had a 17-point lead at one point yesterday. Rytas rested Eidson and Petravicius but still managed to come back in the 4th quarter. Jonas Maciulis broke LKL record by scoring 8/9 three point shots. He is in a good shape obviously.

Regular season ends today after Alytus - Siauliai game. However, this game will have no affect on the standings.

1. Žalgiris 20/0 20

2. Lietuvos rytas 18/2 18

3. Å iauliai 14/5 14

4. Nev?žis 14/6 14

5. Nept?nas 9/11 9

6. Kaunas Triobet 9/11 9

7. Sakalai 9/11 9

8. Ais?iai 6/14 6

9. Alytus 4/15 4

10. Techasas 4/16 4

11. S?duva 2/18 2

Lietuvos rytas - Sakalai

Å iauliai - Kaunas Triobet

Nev?žis - Nept?nas

So Žalgiris lost the first game of the finals to Rytas. They won practically everything this season and given the (financial) turmoil of the greens I think they'll get the title. 4-2 imo.

Sorry for the lack of update. Here are the latest goings in LKL.

Lietuvos Rytas took a serious lead in LKL finals after an overtime home win against Zalgiris. It was the 5th game of the series. Rytas leads 3-1. The 5th game was great for any basketball fan. I will post the link to the game once it's online so anyone interested can watch it.

Here's the shot by Arturas Jomantas to take the game to overtime.

Siauliai won bronze for the sixth season in a row after beating Neptunas 3-2.
