Quote:Two LKL teams from Kaunas could merge and create a new club, reports lrytas.lt. Kaunas and Aisciai are both formed mainly of young players. Since both clubs are growing young players in order to sell them at a good price in future consensus was reached that it is the best interest for both parties to join forces.

Kaunas finished 6th in LKL last season while Aisciai were 8th but managed to reach the Final Four of Lithuanian Cup. The new team ishoping to be among the top four teams in LKL next season.

It is expected that the budget of the team should be above 300.000 euros. Lithuania national team head coach Ramunas Butautas is mentioned as the main candidate to be the head coach.
Respect and thanks for everything:

Alvertis, Bodiroga, Jasikevicius, Radja, Wilkins, Vrankovic, Fotsis, Rebraca, Kattash, Gentile, Koch, Middleton, Kutluay, Rogers, Papadopoulos, Becirovic, Tomasevic, Siskauskas, Pekovic, Lakovic, Vujanic, Chatzivrettas, Maljkovic, Spanoulis and many more to follow in the near future.

It seems like a logical move. Even though Kaunas has enough youngsters to field three teams in LKL but joining forces could be more successful move.

Ramunas Butautas is a head coach of Lithuania NT and still can't a job in a good team. He would be a good choice for the new Kaunas team.

Will Kaunas keep Motejunas?

I doubt that. If Butautas is appointed as the head coach there might be some chances for Motiejunas to stay. But I think he wants to play for a higher level team. Zalgiris want him and it is likely that he play there next season. I hope that Zalgiris appoint a good coach which would help Motiejunas develop as a player and kick Krapikas out.

Kaunas? You mean the team of Aisciai and Kaunas? Might be. I depends what kind of player Žalgiris will take in frontcourt. If D. Motiejūnas will notice that he might get not enough minutes in Žalgiris he might decide to join the new Kaunas team and not Žalgiris. But, you can have in mind that Žalgiris is trying to find agreement with Motiejūnas and dialogue is active. Anyway, he's not going to leave his home town anyway.

PS: I have no doubt this team will be final 4 potential team in LKL.

Yes, I meant the new team Tongue

I also agree that Motejunas should only move to Zalgiris if guaranteed some decent playing time, after all he has a lot of time to play for bigger clubs in the future, even bigger than Zalgiris.

Krapikas is not a good name for a coach Biggrin
