The Spurs management and Argentinian basketball superstar Manu Ginobili are nearing an agreement for him to stay with the team for three more years at $38.9 million.
According to reliable sources, there are just little things that are being worked out to formalize the agreement which could be done soon.
Ginobili who had been a member of the Spurs since 2002 is one of the vital player of the team for years including this season wherein he is averaging 16.6 points and 5.6 assists per game.
Spurs Coach Greg Popovich expressed joy over the latest development saying Ginobili is a vital part of their championship team and will be a great help for the team in the years to come.
The Argentinian basketball superstar for his part is also happy to be back with the Spurs soon saying he valued his playing years with the team and is happy with the chance to part of its roster for three more years.
He said they are just finalizing something and will soon sign the contract extension with the team.
Ginobili's value to San Antonio is heightened by the fact that as a Spanish-speaking Argentine, he is immensely popular in San Antonio's Hispanic-rich market.
The presence of Ginobili also makes the team even stronger since he is a clutch player who can penetrate and shot from the outside.
