If thats all the story, than its a sad story by Marcus Haislip and the Caja Laboral board should be shamed, to treat him like that.
Žalgiris released a statement on the situation with Mirza Begic (see here: http://www.talkbasket.net/news/agents-of...-3958.html )

This was very unexpected, the comision fees to the agents have been paid on the 26th of December ant, right after that, the notice asking Begic to be released was received.

The team consulted unoficially a couple of people from FIBA and they "laughed at the attempt of the agents". Žalgiris is sure, that Begič simply has a much bigger contract offer from one of the big teams (Real, perhaps) and was persuaded by his agents to break free of the current contract (Žalgiris has an option to extend it for the next year).

Žalgiris will not release the player and will go to FIBA court, if needed. The club is sure that it is right and is surprised by the behaviour of Begič, but says that the door is still open for him to return to the club.

Obviously, this year Begič has proven himself to be one of the best bigment in the continent, leading the Euroleague in blocks and being a big threat on offense. Big men this size and quality probably can be counted on one hands fingers, so, hopefully, the situation will be resolved and Begič will play for Žalgiris.

Olimpija is rumoured being behind Begic move to leave Zalgiris...

Well, from all the information that I have, from a legal perspective..either Mirza will reach an agreement to return to Žalgiris in the coming days, or he and his agency may face serious penalties for their actions (possibly, even, disqualification, although it's early to tell).

The sure thing is that Žalgiris will go to FIBA court and will not release Begič.

Before few days ago, director of Olimpija say, that Olimpija will play in top16 with the same players as they play in the regular season. But its true, that Pinkney and Perry was yesterday expected in the evening trening and they didnt come, they are still home in USA. I hope, that this story about Begic has nothing to do with Pinkneys story.

Well, hopefully this can end well for both clubs, because Begič will not get the release note from Žalgiris and will most likely not be eligible to be registered to Olimpia's roster until the deadline.
I thik Begic will stay with Zalgiris. Also think that Pinkney and Perry will be back at Olimpija, maybe they have some problemes in the US with the airplanes because of the snow over there. The airplanes can't fly if there is to much snow.

On Begic, there was a rumor that Real Madrid was interessed in him but Zalgiris will keep him.

Where are you getting your info?
I think Begic will stay. I assume that the American players still aren't back because of the bad weather in US.

The rumor of Begic and Real I've read on a lithuanian website
Real Madrid was rumoured to be scouting Begic (and Kalnietis) some weeks ago... but it's pretty much confirmed now that it is Olimpija who is after Begic.

It would make more sense, because then they would allow Shermadini to return to Panathinaikos, who has lost Aleks Maric and is looking for a big guy.

But I don't think that Zalgiris will let Begic go. They want to keep him to his contract and he's one of there best players
anything new about begic?

Žalgiris just loaned B. Marjanovič from CSKA Moscow, so it seems that Žalgiris is closing the door for Begič to return, since Marjanovič is 2,22m tall and there's no reason to have two tall centers..Begič will probably not play anymore this season, since he won't get the release from Žalgiris.

If Žalgiris will be happy with the playing of Marjanovič, they will have the opportunity to sign him after the season.

saras to fener...Ukic-Saras-M.Tomas...
Lietuvos Rytas gets Jasaitis... too many wingers if you ask me...

Fener is really strong with Saras now, Greer is 99% history for them. Now they need to replace May with a good big guy and they will be a force to reckon with.
