Anyone got any inside info regarding the city where specific National Teams will play?

I would like to know the whereabouts of Greece NT.

I heard that Lithuania NT will play it's 1st group stage in Panevezys.
Respect and thanks for everything:

Alvertis, Bodiroga, Jasikevicius, Radja, Wilkins, Vrankovic, Fotsis, Rebraca, Kattash, Gentile, Koch, Middleton, Kutluay, Rogers, Papadopoulos, Becirovic, Tomasevic, Siskauskas, Pekovic, Lakovic, Vujanic, Chatzivrettas, Maljkovic, Spanoulis and many more to follow in the near future.

The draw will be held in January 2011 so I guess nothing will be announced until then, except the city in which Lithuania NT will play. Panevezys hasn't been officially announced yet but it seems the most likely destination because Lithuanian Basketball Federation agreed to host many basketball events in Panevezys so that the city's municipality support the (re)construction of the new hotel which is necessary for Eurobasket 2011.

I think it's a mistake to include literally all Lithuanian cities in the Eurobasket. Some countries do it with 2 cities alltogether.

Hotel in Panevezys is not the only problem. Zalgiris Arena will opened before the new year at best. Arena in Klaipeda is scheduled to opened at similar. However, financial support for the building of arenas is guaranteed and they will be opened in time. The question is how long before Eurobasket.

The idea to host Eurobasket in 6 cities is very nice. First of all because new arenas will be built. Otherwise there would be no or little chances for that to happen if not due to Eurobasket. Eurobasket will come and go but the arenas will stay and if teams in those cities weren't run by incompetent people they would have a great opportunities to increase their level and budgets.

I believe that at least some teams will manage to take the advantage of having the chance to play in new arenas that meet international standards. And maybe in a couple of years there will be more than three Lithuanian teams playing in Europe. There were more teams with no arenas so it's not impossible.

The main obstacle here is politicians. Everyone wants to earn something out of Eurobasket either directly or indirectly. And because of that the whole preparation process becomes many times longer than it could potentially be.

At first Lithuanian Basketball Federation declared very ambitious goal - to stage the best Eurobasket ever. Now they speak about not doing as poorly Poles did.

I agree, organizations from countries without basketball tradition suck. Then again, look at Spain and their shitty organization, all fixed up to rest their national team as much as possible so that they could have the best shot at winning the gold medal. The Spanish arrogant attitude in basketball gets right on my wick.

Quote: Lithuanian Prime Minister Kubilius, with his speech at the forum, intended to provoke some friendly laughter from the audience and he succeeded quite well. “Whenever you come to Lithuania, you will get as good weather as it is today [it was a sunny day]. It is our responsibility. We are tough people,” Kubilius said pointing out to the tough, according to his own words, fiscal policy of Lithuania fighting the budget deficit.

“My salary went down by 38 percent. My wife is still in agreement with me. In 2014, we’ll introduce the euro. We’ll win the European basketball championship before this - our government made a decision regarding it. We’ll also win the Eurovision Song Contest
