The new season is finally here! it's gonna be a very interesting season, some teams got weaker while other teams made a huge step forward. will be interesting to see if Turkish teams finally did something right with their money or do they have another season of failures ahead, I think that this time they will have a Final Four team but there's a long season ahead of us so we can't really judge right now.

I hope that Maccabi will start the season with a victory. it seems like we have a tough season ahead of us, the roster looks bad to say the least but Blatt has a roster full of athletic players just like he likes, the dominance of Sofo will be missed, no doubt as this season there's no post-up player we can count on, Blu was a player that can't really be replaced, but Caner-Medley brings some things that Blu didn't. the back court looks pretty weak, Yogev will have to make the step forward and this time there are many expectations from him unlike last season where he surprised with the huge series against Pao, we'll see if he can take the chance and become the team's leader. Logan will get a lot of credit, his role wasn't so big since he left Prokom, I hope he's gonna show some consistency because in the pre-season tournament in Israel he was wonderful. in order for this team to do something serious (and by that I mean risk a f-4 spot) Blatt will need to make some miracles. it will be interesting to see if Shermadini can become the 1st center of a team like Maccabi, how will Landesberg function in EL level and will Hickman do something with the credit he gets because so far he's just terrible. to sum it all up-this year's team is just a huge question mark. now I can only hope that I will get to watch the game <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Biggrin' />

Besiktas can make a surprise this year i think they have a good team. I have seen them against EFES and they sure play better. We will see whether that is enough for Euroleague level or not.

Fener had a good pre-season and won against Celticc, which was a morale booster of course. Andersen and Batiste are not ready yet. We will be depending on Bo and 3-point shoots.

I am also interested in Beskiktas for the most, because they are new to me.

Partizan has a good, but physically very weak team. They are young and they lack strong games, but their desire is the ones that reminds me of some past generations. Let the show begin <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

I hope we witness a great, high level Euroleague this season as well and I hope PAO will remain as competitive as it was or at least somewhere near!

I'm really hyped and I look forward to the new PAO.

Good luck to the teams of the active TalkBasket members!

GROUP A

Fener - Khimki

Real Madrid - Panathinaikos ...this will be a tough one but I don't think that Real Madrid is so much of a clear favorite in order to make me go against PAO! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Biggrin' />

Cantu - Olimpija Ljunljana

GROUP B

Elan Chalon - Prokom

Unicaja Malaga - Maccabi

Siena - Alba Berlin

GROUP C

Zalgiris - Cedevita ...it will be a close and interesting one in my opinion

Olympiacos - Caja Laboral

Milano - Efes

GROUP D

CSKA - Rytas

Barcelona - Brose Baskets ...Barca is 0-2 I think in ACB and doesn't seem very good but they still have more than enough talent to win this one

Besiktas - Partizan

Let's go!!!

A great game to start the season, I was surprised by how good Maccabi played, especially in the first half where we dominated with great defense and very efficient offense. we got a very important away win against one of our 2 opponents for the 1st place, now I just hope that we can get another one next week against Siena at home

I like Malcolm Thomas!!! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

As a Bulls fan, I watched him in the summer league and I really liked him. I wanted him so bad to the Bulls. <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Sad' />

Anyway, I'm happy he gets a chance to play for one of the biggest clubs in Europe!

He had a nice debut!

Yea he was very good considering it was his first game with the team and he's been training with the team for only about a week. he showed some good blocking ability and good rebounding, I suppose that once he will get to know the team and the team will get to know him he will also be used better on offense. he seems like a very athletic finisher around the rim.

can you elaborate a bit about what caught your eye when you watched him in the summer league? I still don't know too much about him to be honest.

He's a very, very good rebounder, shot blocker and defender in general and hustles.

Offensively, I think he ain't consistent but defense and rebounding it's his bread and butter. He ain't the guy that will take care of the scoring load but he can anchor the defense and offer Maccabi the opportunities of fast breaks due to his defense and rebounding.

Sounds great, I just hope that he's not the kind of guy that forces himself on the game on offense.

Nah, I don't think he'll do that. He seems to be under control.

Disappointing loss for PAO by Real as it seemed we could win this.

We had double the TO's of Real (20 to 10) and that definitely cost us and also the fact that we were outrebounded played its role. Too many offensive boards allowed.

The good thing is that Sofo seems to be a damn beast (9/9 FGs) having improved his FT shooting A LOT. He's gonna be unstoppable.

The good thing in general for PAO is that despite being such a new team with 10 of the 12 player in the roster being new guys, showed that has everything it takes to be a protagonist again. When we find our chemistry we're gonna roll.

I'm too disappointed today but I shouldn't be I think.

Let's go PAO! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I'm glad that Sofo did so well, I love this player and we really shouldn't have let him go. as for his ft %.. he sometimes has better games from the line but I think you'll see him back to his usual % eventually <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Biggrin' />
