yeah, that vaunted scary Serbian team that just got their doors blown off by Lietuva. You're right though, I'd rather have my squad beat the host nation on their capital court in front of a hostile crowd to take home whats ours, over playing a team likely to start a fight in the 2nd half cause the USA is blowing them out.

I didn't insult your team, YOU took it as an insult, because you're incapable of handling any criticism of your own side. What do you think things will always be like? Peaches and roses? The only achievements Turkey has, has been ONLY in Turkey. You had a good chance to prove yourselves last year in the Eurobasket but you blew it Rolleyes

Until Turkey wins in a competition out of their home I won't regard them as a serious team. Every other good team has done this.

Congratulations are due however to Erden, he is poised to become the best big man Turkey has ever had. Quick feet, great basketball IQ, and a high sports ethos (unlike Onan who was ready to start fights at the click of a finger).

Had you played the Serbians in the final, with the exception of Durant, USA's performance was poor to bad, brick upon brick upon brick. Ther Serbians had a chance at beating you and your side knew this. USA's bad performance (exception: Durant) didn't cause that much of a consternation since you were playing Turkey so that's not that much a big deal <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Biggrin' />

You've got an excuse for everything. Bad performance? Was Lamar Odom's double-double bad? Was Iguodala's lock down D a poor performance? Or Rudy Gay hitting big shots off the bench, was that poor? What about Russel Westbrook hitting 3s? You mentioned Durant, so the US gets no credit for having the best player in the tourney single handedly beat the field?

You've got nothing. "The refs ____, the Serbians feelings were hurt, the Greeks blah blah blah" you're a hater, plain and simple. The USA just sent a fresh 12 to "The biggest basketball Tournament in the World" and swept everyone. Suck on it and like it.

I think rightly won the final of the U.S., although in my opinion, the final should have been, SERBIA-USA ........

I'm sure we'd see a better game. The silver medal at least had to get Serbia.

Congratulations to the U.S. for the gold medal.

Good win for the US. I thought the lack of a true big man would hurt the US in this tournament but when it mattered most, Lamar Odom went above and beyond. Durant has solidified his place as an elite player at all levels.

Ä° didn'T write we lost becose of the refrees. in my next comment i wroted USA deserved the gold medal and played the best basketball of the turnament. after the game all the world seen the applause of the turkish fans for USA team. Cause in Turkey, people is not like zeus. While the game people whistle USA team when they attack but after if we lost we know how to applause the winning team fairly. So grow up zeus. 81 points was a pretty low production for the team wouldn't you say? Only three players with double digits: Durant 28, Odom 15, Westbrook 13. 2p field goal percentage was pretty low for what the US is supposedly capable of.

I didn't say the US shouldn't have won it, I'm saying the team wasn't very impressive at all, bar Durant. Sounds like you need some anger management therapy because you're blowing your top over nothing or you're just an immature teenager <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rofl3.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Rofl3' />

Yes, you missed having the refs serving you free throw points on a plate this game. You were also lucky to have missed umpteen technicals from Onan's behaviour.

I didn't say you lost because of the referees. It's just complete irony that you're complaining about the referees when you had the biggest favouritism from them in the whole tournament especially in the Puerto Rico and Serbia games.

Of course USA deserved the medal, there wasn't a chance in hell Turkey would have gone for the gold, you were lucky that the USA team was a more defense-orientated team than an offensive one, because if they were an offensive one you would have been blown away 30+ points easily. The Americans certainly didn't appear to be trying their hardest, but again they didn't need to either.

Anyway, enjoy the silver. Something tells me you're gonna get punished in the upcoming Eurobasket <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' />

And pray tell, point out to me where I was "childish when you loose". You keep throwing slander towards my way and when I ask you to point out where in the posts I wrote I was doing what you were accusing me of, you can't answer me. And you never will for that reason either.

before every game you sad Turkey is not a good teame and after every game you said Turkey won it becouse the refrees are favorizing Turkey... I think every teame in this turnement gat what they deserved. USA fairly won the championship, turkey deserved to get the silver, litvania deserved the bronze one. serbia deserved being the 4 place. it's a young teame in the future they will do better job. and greece deserved to get nothing...

so you will see that i am right in the european championchip and in olimpic games... Ä° thing Turkey will do a better job...

Yes I did say that Turkey was not a good team, but was made up by good units as PLAYERS. Ilyasova is a brilliant player, although his performance is here today, gone the next. Erden was a MASSIVE force under the basket and much more efficient and productive than Asik or Savas (lol) will ever be. Guler was an interesting surprise as well, he should have got more playing time from Tanjevic. Overall however Turkey does not have flawless cohesion as a team. It's one thing having good players, and it's another thing getting them to cooperate efficiently in a team effort to win a basketball game.

I didn't say 'every game' either, go back and read my posts, you're making things up as you're going along. Don't lie. When Turkey had difficulties in winning the match, the referees interfered to an unbelievable level, and that was very clearly seen in the Puerto Rico and Serbia matches.

Turkey didn't deserve to be in the top four, they only made it there because they were the host nation, the exact same thing happened in Eurobasket 2001. Coincidence? I think not.

The USA, Lithuania and Serbia had some great games and they should have been on the podium, they were the teams that showed the best basketball at the moment.

And that's what I said in previous posts, if Turkey proves that it can win outside of its house, then fair play they will be considered as one of the rising forces in international basketball. But so far two silver medals won at home, one in a European championship, and one in a World championship just makes people roll their eyes and laugh.

I was searching for some opinions during/after the gold metal match and i found this forum and thread..Maybe it's not necessary but i feel that i have to say something about general..

In my opinion,a lot of ZEUS's ideas are right..Referees aren't good,we clearly say they were bad from the first match until the last one..They made a lot of mistakes for every team..But,i can't say they protected Turkey or USA..

If we say about team's quality,Turkey had some good players..I can't say perfect for them just good..From my point of view,Turkoglu lost his balance after Orlando..Ilyasova should learn a lot of things about critical games..He made nothing at last two games against Serbia and USA..But it wasn't strange for me,i believe you couldn't read news about here..They lost their motivation after Serbia game..With Erden and Yılmaz they could play better but we all saw Durant dominated this tournament and no one could stop him..Seems like he will be a legendary player without devastating ego..Again,congratulations to USA,they deserved gold medal <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Main weakness of Turkey players, they're so emotional..If you're talking about yourself as professional, you have to be strong against all possible circumstances..I have same idea with ZEUS about being host..We couldn't come here if we had to play in another country..It's not about referees or another factors only about team players..

Please forgive me,i'll join some comments later,i have to work <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

And my five attractive players;

Show me from my posts that I was talking with hate then. PROVE IT. So far you're only good at calling names, but when I put you on the spot to explain and show me where in my posts you've called me out, you never reply to those things. It's rather convenient for you that you don't reply because you're just lying so you don't lose face.

You need to open a dictionary and learn what certain words mean, because at the moment you don't have a clue. The only reason why I was against your team was because they didn't deserve to go deep in the tournament AT ALL. Do you know when Turkey deserved to go deep in a tournament based upon its performance? That was in Eurobasket 2009, Turkey was playing some great tournament games and looked poised to at least win a medal, but all the good effort came to nothing because we defeated you in the quarter finals and that was the end of that.

About Turkey I have Turkish friends, and I have been to Constantinople as well. It's you who needs to learn the differences in criticism and racism which you accused me of in earlier posts.

Hey man, this is a great post, probably the best firs post for a long time.

I don't agree about your players, that being emotional is bad. It is because they are so emotional that they took so much strength from the home fans and made it so far with so hard defence.

If you put same players, same state of mind, in another country in same games against same teams I don't think they would make it to the final, so we that last year in Poland.

Also it is a traditional strength of the Turkish teams, as we saw from Eurobasket 2001.

Hedo ever since I remember him (from 2000 final four) always is bad in critical games... as for Ilyasova he is playing a for small team (like Banvit of NBA), so he hasn't got too much experience in such games, but he will be a great FIBA players for years to come.
Respect and thanks for everything:

Alvertis, Bodiroga, Jasikevicius, Radja, Wilkins, Vrankovic, Fotsis, Rebraca, Kattash, Gentile, Koch, Middleton, Kutluay, Rogers, Papadopoulos, Becirovic, Tomasevic, Siskauskas, Pekovic, Lakovic, Vujanic, Chatzivrettas, Maljkovic, Spanoulis and many more to follow in the near future.

He played in a seven game playoff series against the Hawks last year averaging 10 points and 8 rebounds per game. The Bucks were without Bogut who is by far their best player. Ilyasova played a role in the team as they won 15 out of 17 games to rise from mediocracy to a true playoff threat (prior to Bogut's injury). Before that he was playing for Barcelona. He could be doing a lot worse for himself in terms of big game experience...
