This is hard decision for Zouros. Spanoulis and Schortsanitis are too good to decline...

First of all Zouros should not accept Sofo no matter what. <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thudown.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
Well, in one hand is unfair for Xanthopoulos and Mantzaris(one of them will make the cut) if Zouros accept Spanoulis but on the other hand none of them should be able to help the Greek team on anything.
Spanoulis is a super star and he was the only one who had a serious reason to be abscent.
I think that Spanoulis should be accepted by Zouros just for teams' own good! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Sorry, but looks like rumor was true. Spa and Sofo just wanted to feel reactions in national team about comeback. Zouros declined them. Nobody wanted this public but it leaked...

Doesn't matter who you are, you can't detour playing for the national team squad. It's not Spanoulis's team or Sofo's, or DD's or Papaloukas's. Once you're out, there's no coming back (for the specific tournament being prepared for).

I totally agree, but remember what happened last year with Pap. Total disaster... Because of what? Because of this kind of stuff...
If this is true, I would accept both of them, but only with public apology.

^ It's too late for any of them. Papaloukas regretted his decision last year, true, but it was too late for him.
Anybody else can write whatever they fancy, it won't change things. It's time for new guys to step up anyway <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=' ' />

I don't think we should be too worried about missing players. Sooner rather than later, the Greek NT needed to renew itself. With Sofo taking a sidelining, this gave an excellent chance to Koufos to show how he's improved himself a great deal. Hopefully we see this demonstrated against strong opponents too. All our old players not coming could perhaps turn around and be a blessing in disguise <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=' ' />

I think it's pretty established now who's gonna be playing for the NT and who's not <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=' ' />
Rumours like that just remain to be what they are. In no country's NT, does one particular player get favourable treatment over others (as far as I'm aware).

In my opinion Zouros should take in Lithouania Mavroeidis and Xanthopoulos. <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
Vougioukas it seems to me, by the way he plays, that he wants to be caught in order to begin preperation with PAO. <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=' ' />
Also, Mantzaris is not ready yet. Next year! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Actually Vougioukas doesn't seem to be on form, you're right. I realized this as of yesterday. The only real usefulness he has is to be used as a big body to draw lots of fouls from the opposing centers. I just watched a recorded game of ours vs. Belgium, we played well for about 2.5 quarters, but near the end of the third we started to really make mistakes one after the other, Kalathis being responsible for quite a few. I've gotta hand it to the Belgians, they didn't give up when they were losing with 20. They ended up losing with a honourable difference, and if they play like this at Eurobasket, they may even bring forth some real upsets. Others better take note of this.
Papanikolaou has been blindingly impressive in these pre-tournament friendlies. He's playing like a veteran, and if he keeps it up like this he could be best young player of the Eurobasket tournament (he's still a teenager right?) ! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=' ' />

So we were defeated by Italy again in double overtime, 81-82. This was a good strong test for the Greek NT. We will have plenty of situations like these coming up. Surprisingly, Vougioukas together with Mantzaris got cut from the team, Mavroidis stays after his good performance tonight. Italy has built a noticeable side around Bargnani, and they could be doing better than expected in this Eurobasket tournament. Lies have now finished, it's only days until the official games begin!

Zouros took the correct decision by cutting Vougioukas and Mantzaris from the team!! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Well Zouros said that he wants the team to be as fast as possible, and that's where Ian doesn't fit in. By the time he's made one step with one feet the other has got smelly already <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/crazy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=' ' /> <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rofl3.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=' ' />
