not even a coach yet and spanoulis-zisis could be pulling all the strings again. then it;s gonna be the same disaster as last summer
[/quote]
You'd like too is not going to happen. The fact that we don't have yet a coach means nothing. By the way in the next few days our next coach will be announced as Vasilakopoulos said. He also said that is optimistic that Diamantidis will return. Everyone wants him to change his mind.... even Obradovic.
You better take a look at your team which without Nowitzki is nothing.

Actually I am glad to see Turkish NT at the group stage against Spain and Lithuania. It is important to see the capabilities of our team one more time at these tough games. When I look the draw, Group B is the hardest one I think. Every team at that group can take any place. And I am especially interested in the performance of Italy. Once upon a time they were very dangerous team, but for quite some time they even couldn't enter the big tournaments.

I'm most curious about Italy! They have some world class talent. Why did they disappear for so long??

What I can tell you from our games with them is that the biggest problem they had was not playing as a team, I think that the 2 NBA players they brought scored around 50-60% of their points..

Serbia will be a serious contender and I think that they will win the title. They have one of the best teams in Europe and they are extremely talented.
I hope that Croatia plays a very good tournament and goes very far into the tournament, they are very talented and hopefully they will show that they can return to the glory days.
My country Belgium will lose big from Slovenia and Russia but they have a chance to win from Georgia,Bulgaria and Ukraine. They have won from Georgia and Bulgaria. But in the tournament everybody start from zero and will give everything to go through the next round. If Belgium goes to the next round, it hopefully will give basketball recognition in my country. There will be very good games in all the groups.

I was a Greece NT supporter from 1987 (i was 8 and watched the final in Nikaia <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=' ' />) to 2008 (in 2009 along with the puppet kazla the troika took over...). I doubt diamantidis will return, especially if someone like sfairopoulos will take over. I have a feeling that the new coach will once again have less to say than the troika within the team. If that happens, sorry but i cannot support this team. And I am very optimistic about Germany, as nowitzki gave rise to a very good generation of players like Elias Harris, Robin Benzing, Luca Staiger, Tibor Pleiss, Tim Ohlbrecht etc

I think Vasilakopoulos will not do the same mistake he did with Kazlauskas. Possibly our new coach will be Greek. Sfairopoulos is a good coach but not for that level I don't worry though because we have some great coaches here in Greece such as Giannakis(he is perfect for this team, he has already prove it), Itoudis(Obradovic assistant) that last year he rejected an offer from Caja Laboral's head coach position, Bartzokas, Zouros(Zalgiris' coach) that he was named Euro Cup's best coach last year and Pedoulakis(is not as good as the others but he is definately better -in my opinion- than Sfairopoulos. <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=' ' />

Concerning Serbia, I will watch them closely in Eurobasket 2011. They have a lot of prospects, but I have a feeling Serbia is getting too much credit already. Yeah, they managed to get to the final of 2009 and they were close to do so in 2010, but they end it up without awards. Eurobasket 2011 will be even heavier because all powerhouses taking their best weapons back. As I see some of sharply praised players as TepiÄ, Tripkovic, Bjelica and Velickovic are far from Euroleague's elite and some of them are obviously far from expectations. For example Tepic is probably the most overrated young player for two seasons now. Bjelica is named (by Serbian fans mostly) as potential European super star and I won't deny the possibility he might be something one day, but it's very hard to see that now. He's way too slow and to clumsy. To put it short, I don't see Serbia having real international stars except Teodosic who already comes up to the expectations. Well, Milicic is still struggling in NBA and he has temper issues. I have a little feeling Serbia's talent is not so pure, rather quantitative as they have a long list of interesting prospects.
My doubt is very clear- will Serbia eventually have other international stars besides Teodosic? If not, I doubt Serbia fairly deserves to be praised as the new empire.

Serbia are probably the most talented team in this year's EuroBasket, but I think that can play them a bad joke... but however they still remain one of the favorites. Lithuania will suffer without Kleiza, and Javtokas will be limited in my opinion because his body will be exhausted after the season with Valencia and also he will be 31 this year. I think the Lithuaninas should give a chance to that tall kid from Rytas

ValanÄiÅ«nas? He isn't ready physically for that...he can score very well but he would be black hole in defense. This year I would prefer choosing PetraviÄius.

ValanÄiÅ«nas will also come short against the more bulked up guys. He's a great talent but he'll need more time to develop. Motiejunas is also an option but he will have the same problem as ValanÄiÅ«nas but Motiejunas can shoot the threepointer. But like you say Sagenas, PetraviÄius would be the best option at center and he'll play good at Eurobasket if he can stay healthy

MotiejÅ«nas is PF, not C. ;] So he would play in place of Kleiza with his offensive skills...better than nothing. Oh well, PetraviÄius is the best but he has some health problems.
