2011 Final Four
Pamesa didn't ask to change the day, they decided they won't show up if the game will take place it Tel Aviv, and not because the date wasn't comfertable for them.

They didn't want to show up fearing the situation in Israel (2004 was in the 2nd intifada) and many speculations said it was part of the efforts moving the FF from Tel Aviv, as some teams pressured the Euroleague to do so.

BTW, other teams also came to Israel in this season, Maccabi took care of their safety and no one got hurt or risked in any sort of way.

Please at least know what you're talking about before saying bullshit.
Tell me WHY Maccabi did not protest the schedule before the start of the regular season of the EL.

If it were another team, such as Siena, for a change of schedule for similar reasons, Would they have agreed to his request? I believe that we all know that NO.

Sorry if I offended you, but is the truth, in this case and all. The great teams have the good pleasure to making and unmaking. EVER.

But Maccabi have done that, Maccabi told them there's a problem right after the date was scheduled and several times after that repeatedly but Euroleague decided to leave it open (without giving an answer) until they see if Maccabi makes it to the FF.

Please at least learn about the case before my friend.

Now about Real-it's really a shame we don't have Perkins cuz with him we could definatly dominate Real but they are quite a deep team while we're now short on guards.. He could also stop Llull completely what I doubt Eidson can do, maybe Pnini could pIss him off and make him work hard on defense but Pnini will have hard time cuz he's naturally a SF/PF.

Anyway, not gonna be an easy one unless Eidson will stop being a choker which I really don't think is possible.

Sofo should have quite easy time unless Real will try playing in PF-C with Tomic-Fischer for example and then bring the one that's not guarding him for a block which worked pretty good for some teams and can work great for Real that has great shot blockers. If they don't do it i'm having a hard time to see them stoping Sofo. On the other hand he's gonna strugle with Fischer's mid-range for sure as we seen against Eze (Khimki) for exmple. Pargo should be our main target on offense as he can penetrate any offense and from what I've seen from Real's guards they can't really stop him, he should just be carefull of their blockers, maybe when they begin movement towards him he should pass to the big man that's left free.

Anyway, gonna be tough but Maccabi has the tools to take over Real not only who I said (Blu and Pnini from the 3, Eliyahu is unstoppable if he plays smart, Eidson? Not really but I hope I'm wrong cuz he can score just not when it's money time from what he shown so far, Hendrix is a rebound beast and even Macvan can surprise with some minutes if he'll be good)

^ This time would be ideal for Macvan (if he gets the chance) to step up and show what he's made of Thup

He did get the chance a few times actually and wasn't too impressive but he's not the one to blame, next season he's gonna be with the team from the beggining and that's gonna be he's time to show what he's worth, you can't blame him now.

If I was you I would be more worried about Real Madrid's depth in their frontline... they can throw a body after a body on Maccabi's bigs and if Big Sofo gets in early foul trouble (given hoe Reyes and co like to flop and piss off their opponents, especially Greeks...)

I don't understand why you call Eidson a choker... he did quite well in Finals with Rytas... and he will be most likely the most experienced guy regarding title games from your team...

Respect and thanks for everything:

Alvertis, Bodiroga, Jasikevicius, Radja, Wilkins, Vrankovic, Fotsis, Rebraca, Kattash, Gentile, Koch, Middleton, Kutluay, Rogers, Papadopoulos, Becirovic, Tomasevic, Siskauskas, Pekovic, Lakovic, Vujanic, Chatzivrettas, Maljkovic, Spanoulis and many more to follow in the near future.

1) about Eidson- ever since he's in Maccabi his numbers dropped as further the season goes. In the group stage his great, then in the top 16 his numbers drop almost in every aspect and in the playoffs it gets even worse, and he hasn't shown up in his biggest chance, with the lack of Perkins but lucky for us we have a fighter and a true winner like Pnini that took that place and carried us to the FF

2)as for the frontline I'm less worried, we got surprisngly deep I mean Lior&Blu as 4-5 already won us two important games away when they were thrown to the court (Ljubljana top 16 2nd half which Maccabi won by 30 and Vitoria 2nd game for 4-5 minutes when Maccabi came back from 9 point deficit to victory) and Hendrix really proved himself when he got the chance, even against superior (height wise) centers. I mean in the playoffs he is the top rebounder and he done that only in 16mpg (8 rebounds per game) and also proved to be an amazing blocker. Eliyahu is very talented and I doubt Real's big men would be able to stop him and even Macvan showed some nice moves driving to the basket and kicking the ball to shooters and is some sort of 3pt threat. Also Maccabi that if you take out Sofo has not very agressive front line is lucky to get Real in that matter because their frontline isn't the most agressive frontline in the Eurolegue let's say..

One problem that we could have is the rebounds, Real is the top rebounding team and we lost our best rebounder-Perkins (yes our PG was our top rebounder) maybe the solution could be puting Hendrix-Sofo together who knows.
Ok, the Euroleague and Maccabi have been taking a pulse to see who was right, when the f4 was next, the EL decided to give reason to Maccabi, and change de hour. But the problem isn´t that.

What I am saying is if the team, in the place of Maccabi, was Siena, Valencia, Unicaja, Fenerbache or these teams not so importants than Maccabi, and if that team claimed to EL change the hour of the final, they would accept.

THIS is the argument; the etern argument that if the great teams have more privileges than the rest.

Sorry if i offended you.

First of all you didn't offend me at all <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Tongue' /> we're just having a discussion that's all nothing to get offended from.

I want to believe that if a 'small' team with reputation not as big as Maccabi Pao CSKA etc would have such problem they would do all they can to help them because it would only be fair, but obviously I'm not part of euroleague management and I'm not one of the decision makers. If I were I'd help any team, small or big as much as possible and I want to believe the Euroleague will act the same way

Let's not fool ourselves... if it was any other team other than the big three (PAO, CSKA, Maccabi) and the rich guys (Olympiacos, Barcelona, Real Madrid)... EL wouldn't do much to help...

I think the same as you, i would do my best for help that team. But as you said, I´m not Bertomeu you neither (afortunately <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Biggrin' /> ) but you can see that Black Urum is in my favor in that question: if was Efes, Unicaja or Partizan... they wouldn´t change the hour.

Maybe Maccabi's story is over.. Sofo was injured in the game today against Ashdod (107-78 Maccabi) 3 minutes to the end and it doesn't look good at all. <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Sad' /> I just hope it's not too bad. Still no report on how bad the injury is.

EDIT:According to Maccabi's medical crew 'it's nothing too serious, probably a matter of few dats'

phew what a relief..

Most of his time in Maccabi he plays as 5, although there were some minutes of him as 4 with Hendrix at the 5.

BTW today he scored 25 points with 100% from the field and from the line
