According to THIS many fans will miss the semi-final...

Yea I know.. At first the reporters said it will be OK but now it seems like many are gonna miss the semi. It really is a shame, I feel bad for these people after all the money they've paid

Especially if Maccabi loses tonight... they might as well cancel the trip and sell their arena tickets.

Respect and thanks for everything:

First of all congrats to Pao fans here, the favorite won even though it didn't go easy.

As for Maccabi-Real first half:two teams are awful, Luigi is even worse. Real with 10 offensive rebounds to keep them in the game, Guy Pnini as I thought has arrived together with his big balls and nailed 3/3 from the three. Sofo is far from expected so far, started the game by making 3 sure buckets into lost possessions and leaving Tomic open for a mid-range shot. Pargo didn't get in the game easily but got better as the game went on with some nice assists, Eidson is surprising and despite a not-so-good shooting game he's doing the little things just like first-round Eidson.

Anyway I hope it'll be a better game at second half

What a progress by Pnini... from Cyprus to being MVP in a final four game...

Real Madrid has everything going for them and yet they are trailing. Big Sofo might have scored 8, but he is costing at defence and most of the time he is behind when the ball runs faster than the players.

Still an unpredictable game for me.

Siena could have won if the had better coach. They missed open shots BUT they had inferior strategy. Just horrible coaching job by the Siena boss. PAO coach looks like a genius by comparison.

First of all PAO coach IS a genius... As for Siean coach he is the one who got them here... I don't think anyone could do a better job with a limited squad.

No doubt the PAO coach is a genius from what I've seen and read. Its obvious he(MPS coach) got them there BUT dude made some costly mistakes. The major error was he used two full-court press defensive types. one zone and the other man-on-man full court press. The zone full court left PAO player standing alone at the 3 point arch approx 3-4 times in a row. Which PAO used to gain and sustain the lead. He should have signaled a different setup(man-on-man). MPS coach eventually caught this problem in the second half but it was too late. It was also bad timing and risky to have a full court press in the 2nd Q when it wasn't needed. MPS players picked up costly fouls using an ineffective tactic. PAO coach had a good game plan he knew MPS were poor 3pt shooters and left them to shot while protecting the interior. Hell by the 3rd and 4th Q, PAO was daring them to shoot and MPS couldnt finish. It was a good game but awful mistakes in coaching and bad shooting by MPS. Congrats to PAO i dont see anyone beating them!

Derrick Sharp played for mor than 2 minutes. I think it says it all <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Biggrin' />

Eidson was great, Sofo improved in 2nd half, Pargo was also pretty good and there's really nothing left to say about Pnini.

Now to the final-Pao's the favorite, Obradovic's a genius and it's no secret.. He lives for these games. I hope for the best and no matter what happens in the final I thank Blatt and the players for this season. After game one in the regular season and after seeing the squad people here thought top 16 is the maximum. After more than half a year they win the semi final by 20 without their most important player..

Amazing.

Congrats to both, Panathinaikos and Maccabi. For me, expected results. I hope so that Panathinaikos will beat Maccabi at Sunday and that Zeljko Obradovic will win 8th title.

Cheers,

I think the final is 50-50 and that both teams have already exceeded every expectation just by getting there.

PAO or/and Maccabi have played in 10/12 las tEuroleague finals and won 7/12 titles! Which will becomes 11/13 and 8/13 respectively on Sunday.

If you look at current shape and rosters I'd also say it's pretty much 50-50 but with all the respect and appreciation to Blatt (and theres endless amounts of it) Obradovic is still the biggest coach and no one can run such crucial games like him. He's really what I fear most (together with DD)

Let's just hope the refs won't help neither team and only basketball will decide our new champion

After the first 15 minutes, PAO woke up from a horrific bad spell. Siena didn't do much except play punk defence, and this paid dividends to an extent, but later on PAO's quality did all the talking, and once more, Nick Kalathis had an amazing game and was key to PAO's scoring when 3D wasn't on par today, still catching up from his bad bout of gastroenteritis before. Fotsis shot the lights out today, doing some of the things that he knows best. Batiste had good intentions, but nullifying 3D's 3p shot by pulling the rim, smacking Zisis in the face (how intentional or not was that? especially after he has a habit of squashing opponents' heads into the floorboards, given his history), giving Jankunas a 4p shot, he was overall playing pretty badly, he seemed mostly like a bag of nerves. Perperoglou was also turning over the ball a lot today, I didn't see the stats, but I counted at least 4-5 mostly childish errors from his side. Sato played hard in the beginning of the game, probably wanting to answer back to his old teammates' punk tactics, however in the second half he was hardly anywhere to be seen. A small rotation of PAO players was seen today, but according to the final's tempo, Obradovic may need to get quality minutes out of all 12 players this time.

McCalleb showed why he's a name to be talked about, he has a drive like David Rivers, just I'm not sure if he's as accurate as Rivers was when it is time for a drive. Stonerook was rather mediocre, Rakovic was very strong, but quite inflexible at the same time. Zisis was playing well in the beginning of the game, but after he got smacked by Batiste, he didn't really make a come-back. Lavrinovic was a catastrophic failure, whereas Jankunas was perhaps Siena's most stable player the whole game with solid shooting.

I was really unimpressed by Siena's punk tactics game. What was even more mystifying was when they reached their team fouls in a quarter, they would continue to flagrant foul! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Huh' /> Like an old habit that can't be shaken off. If this team wants to get to a Euroleague final, they better start lining their pockets with more cash to attract some serious star quality players. Siena had an amazing journey and got lucky that they came across a star-studded team of Oly with a 'brain here today, brain gone tomorrow' mentality. For me, Siena is not a team of worthy quality to be between the four best teams of the Euroleague this season.

Congratulations to Maccabi for also making it to the final, that request for the final to be moved to an earlier hour was indeed done for good purpose, since they are playing in the final <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' /> Eidson, Pnini, Pargo, and Sofo sliced and diced Real who didn't seem to enjoy any advantage of playing on Spanish soil <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' /> At least that dipshit GM (or whatever) Sanchez won't be talking bollocks any more of Real bringing home another undisputed title. Idiot.

Agree. 50-50 games. every thing can happen on Sunday. Depends with many things as % from 3 or the line, which team will released from the pressure and defense.

For starters, let's see which team establishes the game's tempo. Hopefully this will be a technical final with little room for error and with some great plays from both sides. The refereeing so far has been good, so hopefully it will keep and continue that way.

You mean Kaukėnas? BiggrinDD LOL.

Lavrinovič wasn't bad. At the start he led his team but later he got into the foul trouble and that probably was the key victory for Panathinaikos. And even last foul of Lavrinovič was absolutely nonsense.

Other game was way more interesting for me and I'm happy that MTA won. <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' /> Good luck for Chuck and others in the final. <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />
