Huge news for Germany. Basketball is at an all-time high in Deutschland following the Mavs championship and it would have been a shame not to capitalize on the interest during Eurobasket. The German roster was looking exposed without Dirk and despite not being German, Kaman is a formidable force in the paint.

Why all time high when a German player won NBA? Germany won Eurobasket in 1993.

Dirk and Kaman? Wow.. Now it's near impossible for us to advance <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Biggrin' />

Can anyone imagine Eliyahu guarding Dirk? One of the worst deffensive players in Europe guarding one of the greatest offensive players in the world.. That's gonna be painful.

I've not seen anything even close to the level of interest in basketball in Germany since I started going there in 2000 as there is right now. I can't comment on 1993. Eurobasket 2005 was a big deal but Dirk's dominance in the NBA finals has been bigger.

Dirk Nowitzki is a shining example of a professional and a patriot that many others could learn from, mad kudos to him for winning an NBA championship and yet still playing for his country and not considering himself to be a diva _0_
