Maccabi played today an away game against the runner-up Galil-Gilboa the result:

Galil-Gilboa 60 Maccabi Tel Aviv 95

Blu 21, Smith 17 (5 reb), Eliyahu 14 (5 reb), James 9 (5 ast), Ohayon 9 (6 ast, 5 reb, 3 stl), Pnini 8, Scheyer 7, Hendrix 6 (6 reb), Burstein 4 (5 reb).

Another walk in the park for Maccabi, this time against the 2nd best team of last season Galil-Gilboa. The game was practically over in the end of the 1st quarter when it was 29-9 (actually it was over after about 5 minutes..) Blatt let Papaloukas, Macvan and Sofo rest. Farmar didn't play much because he was injured after 6 minutes, but nothing serious. And last but not least- Alon Stein got to play again!!! the amazing talent Alon Stein is basically a practice player in the team but this year he's signed for Israeli league, if someone needed another proof that this league is a joke, you got it! Stein got to play 6 minutes this time and I think we found a substitution for Sharp's role of playing in the last minutes when the game is beyond ridiculous <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' />

Now everything is set for the real deal, Thursday in Milano we'll finally have a real test, hopefully we'll win this one.

Ashdod 74 Maccabi Tel Aviv 103

Eliyahu 22 (8 ast, 7 reb), Burstein 13 (6 ast, 5 reb), Blu 13 (5 reb), Pnini 11, James 10 (7 reb), Farmar 10, Smith 9 (7 reb), Hendrix 8, Ohayon 7

Eliyahu played like a beast today, wasn't far from a triple double, gave great assists and had 90% from the field, and once again Alon Stein the practice player got to play, this time 5 minutes <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' /> oh Israeli league.. so rediculous <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Tongue' />

In the beginning he couldn't do that against weaker team so we see an improvement <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Biggrin' />

Maccabi keeps on struggling, after 2 losses in a row (Madrid and Zagreb) we almost lost an away game to Rishon LeZion, only a game winning shot by Smith prevented a 3rd loss in a row.

They are too tired <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bag.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Bag' />

How many games will play this season ? (optional if they play Final 4 Euroleague) <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Cool' />

Well in the Euroleague it's 23 max, Adriatic it can get to 28, Israeli league not sure bout this season but last season it was 34 max so if they kept the same system in here it can get to 85 as for the cup I think it's 3/4 more which makes it close to 90.. not including all the preparation games and league cup.

Uhh <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thudown.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Maccabi plays like in NBA <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thudown.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> (But NBA teams almost don't have training) <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bag.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Bag' />

It's a complicated situation, definitely not a good one. If you ask me we should leave the Israeli league and join the Adriatic permanently. we should have done that years ago.
#74
Joining the league at the playoffs would be an ideal solution, the problem is that the league administration will never allow that.

If we will leave the league it'll absolutely destroy the league, right now the league makes HUGE money for tv rights and sponsorships while everybody knows that the big crowd that attracts sponsors and tv channels to pay big money is Maccabi's crowd, if Maccabi leaves the league the league will lose both the biggest crowd (by far) and a lot of neutral fans that watch the games simply cuz they enjoy watching high level basketball which, let's be honest, only Maccabi can consistently produce in this league. So Maccabi leaving will cut the incomes badly, make sponsors go away, cut the crowd averages and basically would kill the league financially which will cause smaller budgets for the other teams (because the incomes will get smaller) which eventually means lower level teams..

Could Maccabi not just join the Israeli League for the playoffs or something? Would Maccabi leaving destroy the Israeli League or would it enhance it?
Maccabi should participate in Israeli league OR in the Adriatic league, not both.

They'll die in the court... <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Tongue' />

I agree, it's not easy to play in 3 leagues, we should say goodbye to the Israeli league after this season, after we win championship number 50.
#77
Maccabi having some fun in the Israeli league, this time Bney Hasharon was the victim, 113-73 was the result.

James 22p 9r 3b, Hendrix 20p 12r, Smith 17p, Langford 16p 4a, Blu 12p 4r, Pnini 9p 11a, Ohayon 8p 5a, Burstein 7p, Scheyer 2p 3a, Stein played 5min and didn't score.

Another easy game, the offense is getting better and better and looks much more synced, Pnini was simply amazing and Hendrix and James dominated inside the paint.

Maccabi 102 Galil-Gilboa 61

Maccabi without Sofo, Langford, Smith and Mallet rapes Galil, last year's runner-up and the team that's ranked 2nd in the league this season. such a competitive league <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Biggrin' />

top scorers for Maccabi: Hendrix 21p 8r 4a, James 17p 7r, Pnini 16p 8a, Eliyahu 15p, Scheyer 11p.

There is no team in Israel and also from Adriatic who can stop Maccabi <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

What is going with biggest arc-rivals of Maccabi?...Hapoel Jerusalem? <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bag.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Bag' />

Partizan proved they can challenge Maccabi, with 2 close games in the Euroleague but without Pekovic it's gonna be a lot harder

as for Jerusalem they're ranked 7th (1 missing game) with 6-4 record, their coach Kattash resigned.
