Pre-season European tournaments
#61
Zeus, to be frank, maybe your players should respect the colors, or shades in your case, before even dribbling a ball. Yes, your budget is poor and the monetary funds are substantially at a low, but to show a little fortitude and pride on court will never go astray, but inspire! Galatasaray isn't some kind of invincible team. They're just another average team. Maybe your roaster doesn't justify an EL presence, but it sure as hell justifies a top 16 or maybe 8 at EC level!! The Chemistry will eventually come IF they don't chop and change all damn year.

Aris WAS as great team, and they're a different ballgame altogether. I watched them last year, and Syndesmoi like Super3, should keep their noses out of the team, and stop running interference and causing turmoil within the team. That's really pathetic, not mentioning the fact that they chopped and changed coaches and players, faster than a tornado. That's totally unprofessional and poor attutude and mentality. <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Cool' />

Tomorrow Maccabi plays in the 'chance' cup which is something like a pre-season league cup, the 8 teams that reached playoffs last season will participate, Maccabi will play against Netanya in the quarter final, the semi final will be in Tuesday and if Maccabi wins we will get an interesting Maccabi vs Hapoel Jerusalem game in the semis. The final will be in Thursday.

For now only one thing is known: because only 4 foreign players can play Sofo, Papaloukas and Macvan will be the ones who won't play tomorrow.

Fivepack: You're right about the chopping and changing all the time, this is a frequent phenomenon, more to deal with the fans' displeasure with poor results, etc.

At the end of the day, your mention of Super 3 and all the rest of the Greek team fan clubs should be pulled down. They are a real problem of organized hooliganism that exists back home. Organized fan clubs should be banned, it's been done in other countries and should follow suit in Greece too. Our chaos is the result of too much freedom.

It's half time Maccabi 57 Netanya 30, nothing unusual BUT Shawn James with 13 points and 12 rebounds and an index rating of 30(!!!) and it's only half time! I haven't seen anything like that before (and he only played 15 minutes so far <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' /> )

Maccabi 117 Netanya 66

Eliyahu 17, James 16 (13 rebs, only played 20 minutes), Blu 15, Farmar 14 (5 ast), Hendrix 14 (8 reb, 4 blk), Scheyer 13, Pnini 11, Ohayon 7 (10 ast), Smith 7, Stein 3 (a practice player in Maccabi and he got to play 12 minutes <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Laugh' /> )

And all that with Papaloukas, Sofo and Macvan sitting out and with the 2nd and 3rd line-ups playing most of the game. And then the stupid Israeli media says the Adriatic is easy..

In Israel you win with +50 in Adriatic +25 it's hard to win with +25 point difference <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rofl3.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Rofl3' />

Way more than that <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Tongue' /> I wait for teams like Partizan Olimpija and Cedevita! Maybe it's not Barca or Pao but all these 3 could rape the Israeli league for sure.

Maccabi 102 Jerusalem 82

Smith 17 (7 reb), Eliyahu 14, Pnini 14 (6 reb), Farmar 13, Ohayon 12, Scheyer 10, Blu 10, Burstein 6, James 6 (5 reb, 4 blk)

Maccabi cruising against Jerusalem (in Jerusalem's home court) with no problem although Maccabi played yesterday while Jerusalem had a day to rest. Sofo played only 5 minutes and did nothing but damage with 4 fouls (one technical) and no points. Maccabi played for half the game with no real center but didn't have too much trouble with that as well. To sum it up- I think that Maccabi isn't gonna lose this year in Israel (last season in 32 games of regular season+playoffs+final four there was only one loss)
