1st Group Stage - Day 3

Wow, it's been years since I've seen such a massive poor performance from our side, although we didn't lose from FYROM, just from an American named McCalebb wearing FYROM's jersey <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Tongue' />

Still, what an embarassing performance, Kalathis just fucked things up beyond imagination with his shitty passing and brainless presence on the court. Psychology was especially shit too, so many times we lost easy buckets under the basket, something was critically wrong with the whole team unit.

Apart from McCalebb, nobody else from FYROM shone, except for their coach who really organized their defense well, and blocked off a lot of our passing routes and caused us to turnover the ball easily, many times unforced.

Hopefully this loss will serve as a wake-up call for us, especially for Kalathis, if he keeps messing us up with turning the ball over so much, we're not going to get very far at all <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Huh' />
I don't want Kalathis ever on the national team again to be honest about it. He is the worst national team starting point guard imaginable. Even Rubio is much better than him.

No man he is a great playmaker. He grew up in US and has come in Europe just two seasons ago. Is not easy for them two adjust in european style.

Did you saw him last year with PAO?! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/crazy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Crazy' />

If he work on his shoot, in some years from now he will be one of the top-3 playmakers in Europe! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

What were we talking about before? That Macedonia name is at stakes? <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Tongue' />

Exactly! It's official, the FYROM national basketball team are all avid TalkBasket message board followers. <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rofl3.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Rofl3' />

Nothing is at stake that's yours already for thousands of years <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' />

But they like to dream on <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/crazy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Crazy' />

You've gotta admit that it is fucking annoying that their win was all due to a 'naturalized' American with a Scottish surname, how very Slavic <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/crazy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Crazy' /> <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Rolleyes' />

(If you ask me, naturalization for all national team should be banned)
For me it depends on the link to the country. I have no problems with guys like Thomas Kelati playing for Poland because he has a Polish wife (Ariel McDonald is another example where the wife serves as the link). I also don't mind guys like JR Holden playing for Russia after living in the country forever. Chris Kaman is a bit ridiculous though as he has no legitimate link to Germany.

What is McCaleb's link to FYROM? I know for years they have been giving out passports left and right as American FYROM players didn't count against their teams non-Euro quota. Does McCaleb have a true link to the country?

If I was trying to obtain a European passport I'd look at Ireland. I mean, if you can prove that your great grandpa once owned an Irish Collie the passport is yours!

Group C is a crazy hot mess now....LOL <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/crazy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Crazy' /> <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/crazy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Crazy' /> <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/crazy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Crazy' /> <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/crazy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Crazy' />

I don't accept any link like you're ok with skangles. You're either fully from a country, or at least half. Second generation can be accepted when both parents are from the same country. I really wonder if it is a financial motive behind all this bullshit naturalization. Hell, we'll call Mike Batiste Greek and have him in our line-up, maybe Drew Nicholas to drain threes when we need them, and we won't even change their surnames, they'll just be African American Greeks! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rofl3.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Rofl3' />

He does have the excuse that he was the last one to get into practices with the team. We really need him to step up. Don't forget it was him who put handcuffs on Navarro in last season's PAO-Barcelona matchups for the final four. He performed amazingly.

In FYROM there is a lot of Partizan fans, and that was enough for him to get the passport <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Biggrin' /> It couldn't get clearer then that!

Personally, I can't understand none of these guys that play for a foreign country.

Don't they are proud of their origin, their country?!

I can't imagine that they do it just to play in a big tournament like Eurobasket... <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Ohmy' />

If I was a professional athlete, I would never play for another country, never.

Also I think is stupid for countries that has a great dradition in basketball, like Croatia(and Spain), to give passports in Americans or whoever. <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thudown.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

This would be a shame also for Greece, for Serbia, for Lithuania.

Come on, be proud for your country!! <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' />

We have plenty of black Greeks in NYC. You can have them all. Go Hellas!

I mean this jokingly no offense: Bo Mcalebb is playing amazing, BUT Getting beat by FYROM is like getting hit by an earthquake, being attacked by a wild bear and struck by lighting all in the same day. Say what you will but he is not winning alone. During the Greece game he did not score the last 6 minutes of the game??!! Greece had their chance to win a close game. They did not because of these guys; Pero Antic and Todor Grechevski. Antic looks like a Greek rapper and Grecheski looks like Frankenstein! Today Antic had 14pts and 19rbs 3ast and 2blks against!!! Don't only blame Bo alone if your team loses to FYROM! Don't blame naturalization! If you let two creepy old guys with back problems beat your national team then blame fate, God or the universe. Or just be reasonable and admit your team played poorly cause they let some old guys out rebound and play defense on them.....

I remember when Puerto Rico beat USA in the Olympics by like 30 pts....so I can relate. <img src='http://www.talkbasket.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bag.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Bag' />
